Obituary for John Carlton Tickle

John Carlton Tickle
John Tickle, 45, formerly of Salem, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 8, 2018, in Atlanta, Ga.

John served a total of 25 years with Norfolk Southern, first as an Electrician and later a Systems Engineer. He loved his job with the railroad and was a fifth generation railroad employee.

John was preceded in death by many loved ones with whom he is now reunited in heaven including his beloved wife, Marci Buckles Tickle; an infant sister; and paternal and maternal grandparents.

His surviving family includes his father, Johnnie Tickle; mother, Deborah Tickle; and sister and brother-in-law, Stacey and Scott Sheppard. Also surviving are nephews and nieces, Seth, Xavier, Trevor, Wallace, and Jessica Sheppard as well as Lindsay, Sydney, and Katie Johnson. He truly loved his nieces and nephews as he never had children of his own. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a very special cousin, Melissa Tickle, who introduced him to the love of his life, Marci. John had many other friends and co-workers, near and far, who will miss him dearly.

A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018, in the Veterans Garden at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem with Chaplain Dave Vanderpool officiating. An additional Celebration of Life service will follow at a later date.

Prayers are appreciated by the family during this difficult time. While John is reunited with Marci and we celebrate his homecoming, we morn his loss.
