Obituary for William Edward "Bill" Lee, Sr.

William Edward "Bill"  Lee, Sr.
William E. Lee, Sr. “Bill”, Age 87 of Salem, VA, passed away on March 3, 2018 at the Salem VA Medical Center. Born on Thursday, March 13, 1930 to the late Elmer and Beulah Huff Lee. Bill served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Janice Jones Lee. Bill grew up in Floyd County. He was a member of New Haven Baptist Church in Floyd, VA and he attended Crossroads Church in Roanoke, VA. He moved to Salem, VA in 1951 and had achieved multiple businesses including; farming, a car dealership, a house moving business, and rental properties. He proudly called himself a working man.

He is survived by his children; Margurite Sink, Kay Barbour and husband, Mike, Vickie Sanders and husband, Roger, Donna Lee, William Lee, Jr. “Billy” and Marion; step-daughter, Vicki Walker and husband, Pete; fourteen grandchildren, Heather Sink, Andy Sink and wife, Laura, Jeremy Barbour and wife, An, Jonathan Barbour and wife, Megan, Krystal Snavely, Gracey, Landon, and Brooklan Lee; step-grandchildren, Kerri Beck and husband, Danny, Samantha Speakman and husband, Daniel; great-grandchildren, Ryland, Griffin, Keegan, Elsie, Luella.

Special thanks to the staff at the Salem VA Medical Center and multiple friends who helped with his care.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 5, 2018 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Akers and Rev. Claude Carter officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at East Hill Cemetery in Salem, VA with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Monday, March 5, 2018.

In remembrance of his love for animals, in lieu of flowers, donations may be directed toward the Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue P.O. Box 13 Hardy, VA 24101 or the Angels of Assisi 415 Campbell Ave. SW Roanoke, VA 24016.
