Margaret is survived by her children, Thomas L. Rhodes, John A. Rhodes, and Elizabeth (Rhodes) Williams; grandchildren, Stephen Rhodes, Reese Rhodes, Brian Williams, Suzanne Poff, Jordan Rhodes, Alex Rhodes, and Benjamin Rhodes; and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas H. Rhodes.

Margaret was born in August 1919 in Chesapeake Ohio to L. Reese Gilmore and Martha S. Gilmore. She married Thomas “Tommy” Rhodes in 1939, and together they raised three children. After retirement, Margaret and her husband moved to Salem, Virginia, where she was lived for over thirty years. She was very active in the Science Museum of Western Virginia, both as a Docent and in documenting and cataloging the museum’s collections. She was a life-long volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drives. She was most proud of being part of a citizens group that was instrumental in creation of the Glenvar Public Library.

A private service for her friends and family will be scheduled later. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Glenvar Public Library in her name.
