Obituary for Doris Ann Guilliams (Clingenpeel)

Doris A. Guilliams, 68 of Vinton, VA went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in Roanoke, VA. She was born on Thursday, May 26, 1949 to the late Harry and Pearl Pugh Clingenpeel. Doris was a loving; wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was noted for being a marvelous cook, never letting anyone do without and never met a stranger. Her vibrant spirit and personality were the traits that made her who she was. Doris loved everyone. She had a lifelong dream of being a professional clown in which she fulfilled that dream in the later years of her life by becoming “Peanut” the clown performing for various children’s homes, hospitals, nursing homes, etc. She dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, always singing a song uplifting his name. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James Marlin Guilliams.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Jones, and Rebecca Oxendine; son, Michael W. Guilliams and wife, Brenda; and step-daughter, Cindy; grandchildren, Luke, Josiah, Joel, Benjamin, Alexis, Aliyah, Daniel, Amy, O.J., Michael, and Ashley; eight great-grandchildren; and best friend Claudine.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Sunday, January 14, 2018 in the Chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the service hour at John M. Oakey and son, Salem.
