Condolence From: Anne Kloos
Condolence: My deepest condolences go out to the Dunn family. I was blessed to have Joan as my childhood friend and to spend time at the Dunn's home on Griswold Street in Delaware. My childhood remembrances of Gil were that he was usually wearing some kind of athletic t-shirt and shorts and he always smiled and kindly greeted me whenever he saw me. I hope that the support and comfort of family and friends will help you to get through this sad time.

Condolence: The summer before I moved to Roanoke to begin my job at Roanoke College, Gil lent me his car for 3 days so I could look for an apartment. "I don't need to go anywhere." When my moving van showed up two days behind schedule and after my boyfriend had to go back home, Gil helped me move into my apartment. There are stories like that of his generosity that a lot of people could tell. He was the funniest person in the room, but also very thoughtful. Always a good source of information on books, movies, and ideas. I will miss him in the department.

Condolence: Dr. Dunn, you had such a great impact on my life at Roanoke College. There were times where I was really struggling an you would brighten my day with a joke or a new piece of information. You taught me my favorite Sociological theory. I will never forget our huge field trip to the News Museum in Washington D.C to learn more about Information Technology and Popular Culture. You will be severely missed.

Condolence From: Jill (Lissau) Simanowith
Condolence: Everyone has that one special teacher that truly shapes their future and leaves a lasting impact. Dr. Dunn was this person and I am so grateful to have been his student, advisee, T.A., and friend. My college years are filled with so many wonderful memories of Dr. Dunn. I will never forget his favorite joke, "How do you get a Sociology Major off of your porch?"...."Pay for the pizza".

Gone way too soon but never forgotten. Rest easy, Buzzer, and I will see you on the other side one day. You meant more to all of us than you could ever know. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
