In Loving Memory of

Thomas Hal Stone

Thomas Hal Stone, Sr., 92, of Roanoke , VA passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008.  He was born August 22, 1915 in Galax, VA, the son of the late Dexter and Sally Fisher Stone.  He attended Carson-Newman College where he was a member of the tennis team.  In 1978, he retired after a 41-year career with Allied Chemical Corp. in Tennessee , Missouri and Virginia .  He was a member of Westhampton Christian Church, enjoyed golf for many years at Countryside Golf Club, and was an amateur vintner.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Zoee Ryan Stone, a son, Mike Stone, and a brother, Marlin Stone.   He is survived by a son, Thomas Stone, Jr. and wife Sue, of Roanoke , granddaughter, Lisa Lane and husband, Brian of Tallahassee, FL, four great-grandsons, Michael Lane , John Lane , Robert Lane , and Anthony Lane , a great-granddaughter, Maria Lane , a sister, Mrs. Mabel Thompson of Galax, brother-in-law, Dr. Milton Brockmeyer of Pulaski, sister-in-law, Mrs. Ercel Rhudy of Pulaski, a nephew, Wally Brockmeyer, four nieces, Dianne Brockmeyer, Susan Bain, Carolyn Williaman and Martha Wilson.   Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2008 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with Rev. Dr. Terry Elkins officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park .  The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be made at www.johnmoakey.com.
