Robert Humphrey Krause, 66 of Salem , VA went to be with the Lord Friday, February 29, 2008. He was born July 26, 1941 in Columbus , OH . He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Krause, Jr. Mr. Krause was retired from the Department of Social Services, Child Support Enforcement Division. He was a US Army Veteran, a guitarist in a local music group, was a strong advocate for the Boy Scouts, a member of the GWRRA - Chapter K, where he served as Chapter Director and was a State Safety Director and he was a former motorcycle safety instructor at Virginia Western. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Carolyn Davenport Krause; son, Keith Michael Krause; daughters and sons-in-law, Jacquie and Trace King, Stephanie and Basil Conner and daughter, Katherine Krause and Bill Watkins; mother and step-father, Eloise and Joe Robbins; grandchildren, Emily, Christopher Hank, Bailey, Robert Oakley and Audrey; and life long-friend, Robert Gross. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with Rev. Roy Kanode officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park . The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
