Mrs. Minnie Pauline Thomas, age 83, of Salem , passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008. She was born on November 3, 1924 in Roanoke , VA. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ida Garmen. Minnie retired from Eaton Yale with over 20 years of service. She then worked for Snyder Nursing Home as a CNA. In addition to her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, James Claude Thomas, JR. She is survived by her son, James A. Thomas, Sr and wife Shirley of Salem; five grandchildren; James A. “Puncho” Thomas, Jr., Roger Allen Thomas and wife Brook, Sean Matthew Thomas, Brenda Faye Thomas, and Stacy Carroll and wife Amanda; and seven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, with the Reverend Junior Westmoreland officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 4, 2008 from 6-8 PM at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem .
