Edward (Red) Wright passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family and friends on Tuesday, June 3^rd at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Mitchell and his brother Robert Wright. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Elizabeth Wright, and children, Dennis Wright and wife Debbie, Joe Wright and wife Darlene, Debby Slaydon and husband Tony, Jeff Wright and wife Tracy and Robby Wright. Also surviving him is his brother George Wright of Vinton, Grandchildren Nicole and Cory Slaydon, Nathan Wright, Christine Wright and Ethan and Paige Wright, and nieces and nephews, Jackie, George Jr., Gail, Lisa and R.D. He is retired from VDOT and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and pets. A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 11 AM at Cedar Lawn Cemetery with the Reverend Frank Feather officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 8, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem .
