Mr. Donald Lee Fitzgerald, SR., age 54, of Salem, passed away Monday, February 11, 2008. He was born in Roanoke, VA to Audrey Southerland of Wirtz and the late Ervin A. Fitzgerald. Donald was employed by Safety and Compliance Service as a Safety Trainer and Auditor. He loved music and was a talented musician. He loved the outdoors, and was a fan of NASCAR, and professional bull riding. In addition to his mother, Donald, is survived by his wife, Patti Jo Esperti of Salem; daughter, Dawn Fitzgerald Clemons and husband Greg of Boones Mill; son, Donald Lee Fitzgerald, JR. and wife Cindy of Troutville; step- son, Christopher Eanes of Salem; three brothers, Timothy Fitzgerald of Hardy, William Robert Fitzgerald of Boones Mill, and David Fitzgerald of Rocky Mount; the mother of his children, Donna Naff of Boones Mill; two step granddaughters, Caymon and Savanah Clemons; mother-in-law, Mary Jane Esperti of Salem; and three nieces, Audrey Fitzgerald, Katherine Fitzgerald, and Kendahl Barker. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 PM on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem, with Pastor Shannon Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park, Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-9 PM at John M. Oakey and Son.
