Donald R. Bonham, 60, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 4, 1947 and was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Elizabeth Holdaway. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 while stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. He later retired from Ingersoll-Rand with over 30 years of service. His surviving family includes his wife of 30 years, C. Ellen Moyer; brother, Mark Bonham; children, Michael W. Bonham, Melissa B. Hodges, and Angela D. Petty and husband, Darren; grandchildren, Cody Bonham-Campbell, Madison Bonham, Olivia and Victoria Garman, and Hallie and Michael Hodges; and many other extended family members and friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Waverly Place Baptist Church in Roanoke with the Rev. Reed Ness officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society. The Bonham family is being served by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, 389-5441.
