Clyde Edward Sheppard, 90, of Salem , passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2008. He was born on January 15, 1918 in Smith County , Virginia and was the son of the late Samuel Alexander Sheppard and Sallie Chapman Sheppard. He was a member of Fort Lewis Christian Church but attended Mountain Pass Baptist Church . In addition to his parents, Mr. Sheppard was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Laura Mae Sheppard, 2 sisters and 5 brothers. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a loving and caring sister-in-law, Clara Sue Hamlett. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 AM on Monday, June 30, 2008 at Sherwood Memorial Park , with the Reverend Bill Murdock officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening fro 6-8 PM at John M. Oakey and Son. The Sheppard family is being served by John M. Oakey and Son, Salem . (540) 389-5441
