U.S. Veteran

Jackie Lee Keaton, 68, of Elliston and formerly of Clendenin, WV, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. He retired an Army Veteran in 1993, and is now a Jehovah’s Witness by faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, John S. and Belva B. Keaton; and brother, John Calvin Keaton. His surviving family includes his wife of 46 years, Betty L. Hensley Keaton of Elliston; daughter, Jackie Celeste Keaton Clark and special friend, Donald Perdue, of Elliston; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Holley M. Hensley and Betty Ruth Tiffner Hensley of Elliston; grandsons, Jonathan of Roanoke, Jacob of West Point, and Joseph of Elliston; sisters, June Carolyn Smiley of New Castle, PA, Mary Keaton Hively of Clendenin, WV, and Teresa Gay Larabee and husband, Danny, of Scott Depot, WV; sisters-in-law, Sandra Keaton of Elkins, WV, Karen Sue Hensley DeWeese of Elliston, and Frances Marie Hensley-Bales and husband, Jim Bob, of Roanoke; nieces, Rhonda and Lorri of New Castle, PA, Debra of Clendenin, WV, and Heather of Roanoke; nephews, Jeffrey and Brian of New Castle, PA, Paul of Clendenin, WV, John of Clay, WV, and Randall of Elliston; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Vandana Karri and staff of Lewis-Gale Medical Center, Dr. Rogers and staff of Blue Ridge Oncology, and Dr. John Priddy and staff of West Salem Clinic, and a very special thanks to the nurses and techs of the Lewis-Gale Emergency Room and 6 West floor. All services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jackie’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society at 2840 Electric Road #106 in Roanoke, VA 24018.
