George Vencen Garland

George Vencen Garland, 61, of Roanoke, VA passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012. He was born November 11, 1950 in Wythe County, VA son of the late George K. and Maude Spraker Garland. He was also preceded in death by his son, Wayne Garland. George worked in Occupational Therapy, was a US Air Force Veteran, coached Special Olympics for many years and loved to fish and gardening. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Peggy Bush Garland; step-children, Lucinda Rush and husband, Dylan Wittkower, Jerry Rush, Jr. and Katie Garland; special family members, Tyrone Cooper and Justin Quick; sisters, Beth Hurst and husband, James and Becky Lambert and husband, Paul; three grandchildren, Benjamin Rush of Germany, Elijah Wittkower and Ada Wittkower; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Betty Bush; and special canine companion, Romo. Memorial services will be conducted at 12 noon, Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Wasena Park at the river. “Please bring your fishing pole”. There will be no visitation.
