Eveleen Grinnell Igo Mowles

Eveleen Grinnell Igo Mowles, 87, of Salem, VA, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012. She was born on December 29, 1924 in Wytheville, VA, daughter of the late Leithan Oscar Grinnell, Sr. and Annie Belle Cline. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Melita Grinnell and Ocela Wolford; brother, Douglas Grinnell; two loving husbands, William Rudolf Igo and Julian Darden Mowles; and brother-in-law, Robert Igo. Eveleen was an accomplished seamstress, and for 20 years was Personnel Director of Maid Bess Corporation. She was also an avid gardener and loved few things more than a spotless, blooming garden and yard. Her greatest love, however, was her family, and she will be greatly missed by her daughters, Darlene Sadler and husband, Larry, Theresa Jasper and husband, Fred, Cheree Douglas and husband, Jay, and Denessa Harper and husband, Randy. She was adored by her 5 grandchildren, Angela and Jeff Taylor, Jamie Bogle, Heather Hoback, Hoss Pence, and Ashley and Andrew Huray. She will, likewise, be fondly remembered by stepchildren, Judy Richards, and Jerry and Donna Mowles; and step-granddaughter, Michelle Richards. She is also survived by a brother, L.O. Grinnell, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Bettie Sue Grinnell, Elaine Williams, and Bonnie Sue Igo; and brother-in-law, Fred Wolford. The family will welcome visitors on Thursday evening, March 8, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. A celebration of Eveleen’s life will take place on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. Rev. Dan Netting will officiate. A committal service will then be held at 3 p.m. at West End Cemetery in Wytheville, VA. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.johnmoakey.com.
