Obituary for Wayne Lawrence Key
Wayne Lawrence Key, 70, of Salem, VA passed away Friday, November 30, 2018. He was born October 27, 1948 in Roanoke, VA. He was preceded in death by his father, Elton Lewis Key; mother, Norma Jean Williams Key Evans; and his step-father, E.W. “Winnie” Evans.
Wayne retired from General Electric with over 30 years of service. After retirement he worked at Walmart in Salem for five years. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing and loved taking road trips with his wife, Debbi. Wayne had a great love for animals, music and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Lee Key; children, Lewis “Matt” Key and spouse, Jacob, Daryl Wayne Key and spouse, Katie and Lauri Gayle Key; step-children, Brigitte Anderson and spouse, Lauren and Monika Bishop and spouse, Joshua; brothers, Wendell Lewis Key and spouse, Jackie and Barry Lynn Key and spouse, Shelly; grandchildren, Anna Key and Cora Key; step-grandchildren, Jakob Bishop and Lana Bishop; first wife and mother of Wayne’s children, Gail Key; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Monday, December 3, 2018 at Salem Church of Christ, 401 W. Main Street, Salem with Pastor Andy Clapp officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salem Animal Shelter.
