Diane M. Powell, age 85, of Roanoke, Va. passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018. She was born on Monday, December 19, 1932 to the late Horis and Margaret Peoples. Everyone knew her if not by name, they knew the sharp little redhead driving her big white Cadillac all over town. She has a unique was of always turning everyone’s frown upside down. She was thoughtful and caring, offering a kind word and a warm smile. Diana helped others to forget their worries even if only for a while. She left her mark on this place. Always with warmth, kindness, and grace. Diane was always found dancing and socializing with friends.

She is survived by four children, Lin Nichols, Michael Powell, Cha-Cha Short, and Troy Powell; three grandchildren, Keith, Chris, Cory; five great-grandchildren, Makala, Kenan, Faith. Makenzie, and Mason; one great-great grandchild, Jace.

A Celebration of Diane’s life will be held at 7 PM on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Va. with Ben Mewald officiating.

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 6 PM until the hour of the service.

Our beautiful angel was called home and she went in complete peace. She will always and forever be sadly missed. In loving memory of our little mama. Linda, Michael, Cha Cha, and Troy.
