Jackie Junior "Jack"  Walton
Jackie “Jack” Junior Walton, 80, of Salem, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 4, 2018. Born on Wednesday, November 24, 1937 to the late William Jasper and Helen Gertrude Burton Walton. He was a 1957 graduate of Andrew Lewis HS, Navy Veteran, G.E. Retiree, and member of Calvary UMC. Jack enjoyed spending time with family, and playing golf with “The Dudes”, his friends from high school. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy W. Ferguson; three brothers-in-law, Clarence W. “Ned” Martin, Donald W. “Donnie” Pittman, and William E. “Billy” Beard.
He is survived by his son, Jeff Walton and wife, Victoria; daughter, Susan Greer and husband, Ronnie and their mother, Sandra Jo Hughes; grandchildren, Seth, Abbey, and Chase Greer, and Nathan Morrison; three sisters, Phyllis W. Martin, Virginia W. “Ginny” Pittman, and Janie W. Beard; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins he will be dearly missed by all.
The family wishes to thank the Hematology and Infusion Center staff at Lewis Gale Medical Center who provided him with excellent care.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Bryant and long-time friend Rev. Emory Tarpley officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA. Family will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
