Obituary for Betty Ruth Nappier (Haupt)

Betty Ruth (Haupt) Nappier, 90, of Roanoke, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Frankie Mayo; paternal grandparents, Simon and Rener Haupt; parents, George and Ethel Haupt; husband, Edward Nappier; sister, Jean Haupt Damewood; and brothers, George Haupt, Jr., Ralph Haupt, Earl Haupt, and William “Bill” Haupt.
Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Toni Webster Stallworth and husband, Robert of Stuarts Draft, VA; sisters, Alice Haupt Wilburn of Homestead, FL and Joan Haupt Miles of Omaha, NE; brother, Robert R. Haupt of Salem, VA; grandchildren, Alexandra S. Morgan and husband, Nick of Franklinville, NJ and Aidan Haupt Stallworth and wife, Cheryl of Ewing, NJ; great-grandchildren, Ava Scout Morgan and Declan Webb Morgan; as well as some special people in her life, Debi Whitenack Hayes, Barbara Nappier Dorman, Becky Guthrie Hartsock, and Sharon Overstreet Keys.
Betty graduated from Andrew Lewis High School to then go on to work for Roanoke City Library and soon after for Norfolk and Western as an administrative assistant for 35 years. She was a dedicated member of Fairview United Methodist Church who loved the Lord. Betty was devoted to her wonderful family and her loving church family. She was enthusiastic about Norfolk Southern Railway and music.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Betty’s private caregiver, Nikki Ford, the loving Home Instead ladies, and Carilion Hospice for all their dedication. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Fairview United Methodist Church in Betty’s memory.
A visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem.
