Obituary for Russell Linwood Walker
Russell Linwood Walker, age 79, of Salem, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland Robert Walker and Estelle Marie Walker; and his second wife, Cora Ellen Walker.
He is survived by his children, Guenther Russell Robert Walker and wife, Ginger Lee, of Belwood, N.C., Peter Edmund Konrad Walker of Roanoke, Texas, and Juliana Hildegard Walker of New Castle, Va; grandchild, Andrew Garland Konrad Walker of Salem, Va.; mother of his children and ex-wife, Hildegard Walker Vanness of Salem, Va.; brother, Harold Lloyd Walker and wife, Martha Jean, of Rome, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
Russell was born, raised, and educated in Salem, Va., and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. When he returned to the states, he settled down in New Castle, Va. where, after working several long term jobs, realized his lifelong dream of becoming a truck driver until he retired and lived a simple productive life.
Per the wishes of the family, there will be no service at this time.
