Alma Beamer "City"  Hammond (Beamer)
Alma “City” Beamer Hammond, 80, of Salem, went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 12, 2018.

She was born in Carroll County, VA, a daughter of the late James and Geneva Wilson Beamer. She graduated from Radford College with a Bachelor’s Degree and taught school in Floyd and Bedford County for over forty years. She loved to garden, her roses, cooking and her pets. She was a devout Christian and a member of Valley Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Hammond; two brothers, James Beamer and Edwin Wilson, and her sister, Vista Alderman.

She is survived by brother-in-law, Kenneth Alderman; sister-in-law, Helen Beamer; brother-in-law, Parris Hammond and wife Lois; brother-in-law, William R. Hammond and wife Glenna; and several nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.

She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends including her special friend, Ashley Lester Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 7PM, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Valley Church, 8100 Angel Lane, Roanoke, VA. Dr. Larry W. Lykens and her pastor, Dr. Jason Cook will officiate. Burial at Sherwood Memorial Park will be private. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 5:45 PM at the Church.
