Vivian Leigh Sarver Buchanan, age 100, of Salem and formerly of Bland County, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, January 2, 2018.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Ezra Wiley Sarver and Maggie DeHart Sarver; husband, William W. Buchanan; son, Allen G. Buchanan; son-in-law, J. C. Capito; three brothers; and six sisters.
She is survived by daughters, Margaret Buchanan Capito and Dr. Candice Lynn Buchanan; son, Jarold W. Buchanan and spouse, Glenna Utz Buchanan; daughter-in-law, Freda Buchanan; sisters, Margaret S. Kinder and Louise S. Phillips; grandchildren, Lisa Carroll Capito, Lesley Capito (Christopher) Bircher, and Kenny Sowash; great-grandchildren, Jena Bircher, Amber Sowash, and Codi Sowash; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel. The funeral service will then begin at 2 p.m. with The Rev. Barbara Murray and The Rev. Brian Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at the Fair View Cemetery in Roanoke.
