Earnest Calvin  King
Earnest Calvin King, 76, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017.

Mr. King was born January 13, 1941 in Salem, a son of the late William Alvin King and Willie Jones King. He served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Roanoke City Public Schools. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who also loved watching sports-especially wrestling, and the news.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Ralph King; brothers, Claude King, Joe King, and Allen King; sisters, Louise Keene, Venice Blair, and Clara Foley.

Surviving are his son, Earnest A. King and wife, Peggy; daughter, Judith Johnson; grandchildren, Danyl Thomason, Roderick Johnson and wife, Nichole, Chad Johnson and wife, Claudia, Kyle King and wife, Ashley, and Michelah King; great grandchildren, Jakoby Johnson, Jacelyn Johnson, and Alayna Johnson; brothers, John King and wife, Nancy and Danny Ferguson and Randy King; sisters, Jean Jones and Evelyn Scott; and partner, Sandra Kennedy.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens in Roanoke with Chaplain Evan Spencer officiating.
