Obituary for Edward Estes "Eddie" Dooley (Dooley) III

Edward Estes "Eddie" Dooley (Dooley) III
After a long and hard battle with no opportunity of a positive outcome, Edward “Eddie” Estes Dooley, III, of Salem, passed away November 17, 2017. He was the husband of Gayle V. Dooley.

Mr. Dooley was born December 18, 1946 in Roanoke, a son of the late Edward Estes Dooley, II, and Evelyn Decker Dooley. After completing his service with the United States Army, he was employed with the Norfolk Southern Corporation for 42 years. Eddie was an avid fan of the Wahoos and a longtime supporter of the Salem Spartans. He also loved the beach, walking, and dogs.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Dooley was preceded in death by his sisters Patty Clagett and Donna St. Clair.

Surviving are his wife, Gayle V. Dooley; son, Edward Estes Dooley, IV; daughter, Ann Rierson and husband, Matthew; grandchildren, Henry Dooley and Dulaney Rierson; sister, Marcia Laing and husband, David; and many nieces and nephews.

At Mr. Dooley’s request there will be no formal services. A private interment will be conducted at a later date.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by visiting www.lls.org or calling 1-888-557-7177.
