Lucile H. Freese, 85, formerly of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 after battling a brain tumor since 2010.
She was retired from AXA Equitable Inc. and worked for Roanoke Mills earlier in her life. Lucile was a life-long member of Fort Lewis Baptist Church in Salem and attended Gayton Baptist Church after moving to Richmond in 2008.
Lucile was preceded in death by her late husband of 45 years, Atwell “Jim” Freese; parents, Ed and Kathleen Hill of Salem; brothers, Bruce Hill and Ralph Lynwood Hill of Salem.
Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Melissa Strong and husband, Wes; beloved granddaughters, Amanda and Emily Strong all of Richmond; brother-in-law, Barry S. Freese of Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Leonard Southern officiating. An interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem.
