Martha Ellen Roop, 85, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2017.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Mary Stover Farris; husband, Delmas Roop; children, Mary Ellen Stanley, Rebecca Patsel, and Ronald Roop; and siblings, Lorraine Carroll, Lois Farris, Curtis Farris, Sr., and Jack Farris.

Her surviving family includes children, Danny Roop and wife, Charlotte, Emma Millsaps, and A. Michael Roop; brothers, Clarence Farris and wife, Esther, and Russell Farris and wife, Janie; sisters, Jean Roberts, Charlotte Hall, Sue Reedy, and Cathy Carter; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family expresses sincere thanks to the entire Lewis-Gale Surgical ICU for their wonderful care.

A period of visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017, in the funeral home’s chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
