Obituary for Gladys Mae Glass (Reynolds)

Gladys Mae Glass, 86, of Salem, Virginia went to be with the Lord and to join her husband, Charles Kenneth Glass, on Sunday, October 1, 2017.

Gladys was born September 4, 1931 in Franklin County, a daughter of the late Lynn Thomas Reynolds and Sally Mae Bohon Reynolds.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Baublitz, sons, Richard Lee Glass and Thomas Charles Glass, sister, Geraldine, and brother, Dave.

Mrs. Glass is survived by her daughters Vivian Diane Glass Catron and husband, John, and Connie Glass Webb and husband, Daniel; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Stephanie, Greg, Joshua, Maddy, Todd, Donna, and Russell; thirteen great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; her baby sister, Emma Jean Wilson; her very best friend Sharon Wade; dear friend, Mrs. Sarah Conner; and her dear niece, Patty Glass Mills and her mother, Lilly; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, at 6:00 P.M. Friday evening, October 6, 2017 with Pastor Junior Westmoreland officiating. The family will receive friends following the funeral service from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

A private graveside service will be conducted at Church Hill Cemetery only for immediate family.

The family suggests that in place of flowers, memorial tributes should take the form of contributions to Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA 24018, 540-776-0198.
