Obituary for Philip William "Bill" Smiley
Philip “Bill” W. Smiley, 86, of Roanoke, VA and formerly of Chatham, NJ, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 at home surrounded by loved ones after a short illness.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Nancy; four children, Scott Smiley, Sandra Townsend and husband, Brian, Steven Smiley and wife, Theresa, and Shelly Smiley; six grandchildren, Jacqueline, Meredith, Olivia, Ryan, Jillian, and Sean; and one great-granddaughter, Rory.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Craig Mitchell, Father Jim Lively, Fay Clippard, and Nancy Wheeler as well as Good Samaritan Hospice especially Gay, Taniesha, Allie, Cathy, and Angela for all their love, support, and compassion they provided Bill and his family. The family is profoundly grateful.
All services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA, 24018 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnmoakey.com
