John C. Penny

LUTHER OAKLEY MOSELEY was the grandson of my grandfather Luther A.B. Winfrey, Sr. and the great-grandson of my great grand-father, George Hill Winfrey. Among his great uncles were Joseph H. Winfrey, MD., Baptist ministers, Egbert Bolling Winfrey and E.W. (or W.E.) Winfrey. In the providence of our Lord, who makes no mistakes, Luther had concluded his journey of life on this earth, leaving behind many relatives and friends whose lives he touched. Luther was not a perfect man, although many will say he was a good man. But, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, he finished his pilgrimage as a man who was a father and a grandfather, as a man gone to meet Jesus Christ through faith in Him who died and rose again so that none of those trusting in Him should perish. Although, I do not feel able to make the trip to Salem for his funeral service, I hope all his family will be able to rejoice in knowing that Jesus Christ, who did all things well while He was upon this planet earth continues to do so. Also, be reminded in your times of missing Luther that God is working all things together for good to those who love Him and that nothing, not even death can separate even one of His own from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. To God be glory both now and forever. May the love of the living Lord give you peace through Jesus Christ. My sympathy to the family and friends of Luther Moseley. May God the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who knows all your thoughts and heartachs comfort you in this time of sorrow for evermore. John C. Penny, his mother’s oldest nephew
