Lonza G. “L.G.” Graham, 82, of Salem, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 24, 2017. He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Ida Graham; sister, Wanda Holdren; and brother, Jackie Graham.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Rochelle A. Graham; daughter, Sonya Mason (Jim); sisters, Bobbie Jean Altizer and Dorothy Stevens; brother, Gale Graham; mother-in-law, Ruth Adams; sisters-in-law, Barbara Huffman, June Thompson, Jean Sanders, and Carol Adams; and numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends that will miss him.
L.G. was retired from Hancock Steel after working as a welder for 43 years. Later, he worked for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and St. Anne’s School where he dearly loved the children who also dearly loved him. He was a loving husband, father, and friend to all who knew him. His smile and laughter will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Green Ridge Baptist Church, 5521 Green Ridge Road, Roanoke, VA, 24019. A committal will be held at 2 p.m. following the service at Glade Creek Cemetery, 3148 Webster Road, Blue Ridge, VA, 24064.
