Obituary for Carl William "Bill" Blankenship

Carl William “Bill” Blankenship, 65, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.
He was born September 24, 1951, a son of the late William Frank Blankenship and the late Helen McDaniel Ayers. As a young man, Bill enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He was a very proud patriot and historian of our country. He was the owner and operator of Spray Clean since 1997. Most of all, Bill was a very loving husband, father, and “Poppy” to his family.
Mr. Blankenship is survived by his wife, Angie D. Blankenship; sons, Chris Blankenship and Scott Pruitt; stepdaughter, Kelly Minter and husband, Brian; stepson, Zach Bocock; grandchildren, Tyler, Tessa, and Elijah; sister, Sheila Robb; brothers Jimmy Blankenship and Thomas Nance; very special niece, Heather Blankenship; and many other surviving family members and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, with Rev. Bruce Gregory officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M.
