Mitchell Wayne Holshouser, 55, of Richmond, Va., departed this life unexpectedly on Friday, April 28, 2017.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, and son. He was born on Wednesday, October 25, 1961 in Salem, Va. Mitch graduated from Salem High School in 1980 and Virginia Tech in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a lifelong Hokie fan. He was a certified financial planner and stockbroker for 26 years at Merril Lynch. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, but most of all enjoyed being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Leatherman Holshouser; and son, Jason Sledd.

His surviving family includes his father, Bobby Holshouser; brother, Kevin Holshouser and wife, Angie; wife, Carrie Holshouser; children, Chelsea and husband, Andrew, Blake and wife, Jordan, Connor, Savannah, Samantha, and Jackson; nephew, Cameron; niece, Miranda Holshouser; God children, Carson and Alicen Tinsley; and many other beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A celebration of Mitch’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at the Green Hill Church of the Brethren, also in Salem. Pastor Leo Johnson will be officiating. Burial will be private.
