Obituary for Frank Wesley Whitecotton

Frank Wesley Whitecotton, 56, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.

Frank was truly an angel here on earth and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He cherished his family and friends, but he also was passionate about doing random acts of kindness for strangers.

Frank was a faithful employee of Berglund Ford-Mazda where he was a parts counterperson for over 20 years. He loved football, and has been a lifelong Redskins fan.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Roy and Alma Whitecotton; and his father-in-law, Louis Cole.

His surviving family includes his loving wife of 26 years, Cindy (Queenie) Whitecotton; sister, Bonnie Bolin; brothers, John and Allen Whitecotton; mother-in-law, Joyce Cole; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Glen and Terri Hill, Ken and Vicky Grapel, Larry and Katie Davis, and Butch and Julie Cole; numerous nieces and nephews; our very “special adopted” kids, Joe and Lisa Bond; and a special friend, Linda Baker.

Frank’s wife, Cindy, would like to thank all the family, friends, and special neighbors who have given so much love and support to her and Frank during these past several months.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. The family will receive friends beginning at 4 p.m. If you have a special story or memory of Frank that you would like to share during this time, please bring it with you.

In lieu of flowers, Frank would like donations be made to Big Brothers / Big Sisters of the Roanoke Valley at 124 Wells Avenue NW in Roanoke, Va. 24016. Frank had the honor and pleasure of being a Big Brother to two special young men, Buddy Henegar and Tommy Zeirick.
