Obituary for David Allen Harvey

David Allen Harvey
After 23 days in a hospital, David Allen Harvey, 48 years old, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017.

David was born in Ankara, Turkey, on Saturday, May 11,1968. In his parents' eyes, he was a beautiful blonde-headed, blue-eyed little boy. David grew up in Charleston, S.C., and graduated from R.B. Stall High School in 1986. He worked several years for Food Lion. After that, he worked at Vickery’s and Gene Haufbrau in Charleston where he was a general manager. He later moved to Brunswick, Ga. where he worked for Harris Teeter as a produce manager. After moving to Virginia, David worked for HNRGI Labs in Roanoke. He loved music and parted with his childhood guitar when he gave it to a nephew for a Christmas present this past year. He was a compassionate, loving person who loved his family and was always available to help in any given situation. He never lost his "dry sense" of humor. When he was in the hospital, he could be his sarcastic self at times. He had some good times with the family members who sat with him. Thanks to all who helped with this. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Wayne Harvey.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Hepler Harvey of Salem, Va.; sister, Teresa Simmons and husband, Tracy, of Spokane, Wash.; brothers, Edward Harvey, Jr. and Kari of Summerville, S.C., Stephen Harvey and wife, Andra, of Henderson, Nev., Gregory Harvey and wife, Kaylauna, of Salem, Va., Jeffery Harvey and Casey, of San Francisco, Calif.; and his beloved dog, Georgia. He is also survived by 8 nieces, 10 nephews, 9 great-nieces, and 3 great-nephews.

A viewing will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 6311 Wayburn Drive in Salem, Va. The funeral service will then begin at 11 a.m. with Bishop Joseph Havens officiating. A small graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Va.
