Obituary for Sylvia Maxine Kifer (Judy)

Sylvia M. Kifer, 66, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 9, 2017.
She was born October 3, 1950, in Wardensville, WV, to Osa C. and Gernia K. VanMeter Judy. She was married to her best friend George W. Kifer, Jr. for 39 years. Sylvia loved serving people. After high school, she obtained her cosmetology license and operated her own beauty salon. In 1974, George and Sylvia formed a direct sales company which eventually led them to the manufacturing and international distribution of their products based in Roanoke. She worked as Vice President of Operations for Water*Matic International until retirement in 2006. Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Osa C. and Gernia K. (VanMeter) Judy; husband, George W. Kifer, Jr.; five brothers, Leslie Judy, Donald Judy, Harold Judy, John Judy and Marvin Judy and two sisters, Hazel Conrad and Alice Kibler.
She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette K. Hart and Tracey M. Kifer; two very special grandchildren, Troy Fitzgerald and Ohanna Thomason; one brother, Ona (Lena) Judy; four sisters, Veda Waybright, Wilma (Eddie) Walton, Audrey (Guy) Kibler, BJ (Charles) Whittington, and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Rudy Holland will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 11, 2016 at the funeral home.
