Obituary for Aubrey Eugene Adams

Aubrey Eugene Adams, 90, of Salem, VA passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017. He was born in Craig County, VA on March 6, 1926 a son of the late Josephus Cline Adams and Ruth Caldwell Adams. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Ann Caldwell Adams; brothers, Harold, Gerald, Lawrence and Wayne Adams; and a sister, Edith Caldwell.

Mr. Adams was a retired Wireman from General Electric, the “Oldest Salem Football Fan”, one of the first Hamm Radio Operators in the Roanoke Valley, a life member of New Castle VFW and a Korean War Army Veteran.

He is survived by his daughters, Texanna Rae Adams and Ruth Lee Adams and her fiancé, Kevin Smith; sister, Shirley Harnsberger; grandchildren, Shane Eugene Pendleton and Michelle Cathryn Pendleton and her fiancée, Lyle Wade; great-grandchildren, Sierra Amani Pendleton and Sydney Ann Wade; and a number of sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 10 am until 11 am at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. Funeral services will follow at 11 am with Rev. Ivey Adams and Hilton Jeffreys officiating. Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Medi Home Health Hospice for their loving care and help and to the Salem Community for their Love and Support during Mr. Adams illness. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Mr. Adams memory to the Salem Football Ring Fund or the Salem Sports Foundation.
