Obituary for David Eugene Epperly

David Eugene Epperly, 57, of Salem, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016.

He was born in Roanoke, a son of Rosella Foutz Epperly and the late James Edward Epperly and had been a Salem area resident most of his life. He worked for many years as a tire retreader prior to retirement. David was a down home kind of guy, who enjoyed NASCAR, gardening, metal scrappin’ and woodworking, with many of his projects being gifted to his friends. He was an excellent cook, great hockey player, and of course thrived on good old fashioned ribbin’ with his family and friends.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Epperly Coffman, and special grandmother, Mattie ‘Granny’ Foutz.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Chelsea Epperly Falls and husband Nathan; a son, Zachary Edward Epperly; granddaughter, Olivia Brook Falls; two brothers, Timmie Ren Epperly and Dennis Ren Epperly and wife Bethany; nephew, Austin Ren Epperly; niece, Casey Renee Epperly; former spouse and friend, Tammy Davis Epperly, his close childhood friend, Jerry Reed, as well as other extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 12PM, Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Chaplain Dave Vanderpool will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service beginning at 11AM at the funeral home. An online guest book is available for family and friends by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
