Lewis
Chester (Chet) Lewis, 92, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 25, 2016.
Born in Eolia, Ky. and formerly of Bedford, Chet was a WWII veteran, an avid bowler, lifelong salesman, and friend of many.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Alfred and Polly Lewis; as well as 20 siblings and half siblings.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Christine, of over 65 years; his four daughters, Debbie Meise and husband, John, Linda Collins and husband, Dave, Fay Fields and husband, Alan, and Melody Collie and husband, David; his son, Jay Lewis; his grandchildren, Paul Lewis, Erika Meise and fiancé Ross, John Meise, Jr., Jacob Collie and wife, Tanya, Andrew Collie, Zachary Collie, Mark Collie, Michael Collins, and Matthew Collins; two great-grandsons, Nathaniel and Noah Collie; and many cherished nephews and nieces.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016, also in the chapel. The committal service will begin that afternoon at 2:30 p.m., at the Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Bedford. Pastor Butch Boley will officiate.
