Mary Kathryn Janney Turley, 85, of Salem and formerly of Beckley, WV, departed this life Wednesday, April 6, 2016, and is now in the presence of her Lord. She was born on December 26, 1930, the youngest of eight children, to Jim and Dolly Daniels Janney. She graduated from Trap Hill High School in 1949. She graduated from Kanawha Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and practiced as a Registered Nurse for 40 years, retiring from Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV in 1996.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank, Nora, Siebert, Thelma, Helen, Naomi, and David; and her son, Charles Kevin Thompson. Family left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Helen Hope Canterbury and husband, Tom; step-grandsons, Joshua and Lucas Canterbury; and many loving nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 11 to 1 p.m at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with a funeral service following at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Paul Mahan. Interment will take place on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV.
