Obituary for Curtis Lee Farris Sr.

Curtis Lee  Farris Sr.
Curtis Lee Farris, Sr., 76, of Salem, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2016.

He was born in Salem, a son of the late William E. Farris and Mary Stover Farris and had been an area resident all of his life. He was employed as a truck driver his entire life, lastly retiring from Yellow Freight following 27 years of service and having logged over 10 million accident free miles . Curtis was a long time member of Living Well Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed football and NASCAR racing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, he is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Virginia Harrison Farris; three sons, Duane Farris and wife Carla, William Farris and wife Twana, and Curtis L. Farris, JR.; his daughter, Virginia Finch; two brothers, Clarence and Russell Farris; five sisters, Martha Roop, Jean Roberts, Charlotte Hall, Sue Reedy and Cathy Carter; five grandchildren; Savannah Farris, Nikki Phelps, Steven Nichols, Bubba Farris, and Morgan Dillon, and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Living Well Church of the Nazarene and to Gentle Shepherd Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Steve Parker will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
