Obituary for Louise Wirtz Osborne

Louise Wirtz Osborne died peacefully at her home with family members by her side on Monday, January 4, 2016. Formerly of Grundy, Virginia and Titusville, Florida, she spent her later years in Salem, Virginia.
Louise was born in Athens, West Virginia on May 27, 1918. She was a graduate of Concord College, a former school teacher, and a devoted member of Buchanan First Presbyterian Church where she was a leader of the Women of the Church, a choir member, and a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed traveling and reading. She loved entertaining family and friends in her home. Louise was the matriarch of a large and loving family and was affectionately known as Mom O.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Osborne, Sr.; children, Ted Jr., Jimmy, Donnie, and Anne; grandson, Kevin Barnard; and sons-in-law, Bill Barnard, Jack Lester, and Jake Hash.
She is survived by children, Mary Virginia Barnard Lester, Linda Osborne Hash, David Osborne and wife Linda, and Judy Kiser Osborne; grandchildren, John Barnard and Heather, Brooke Barnard, Pete Osborne, John Hash and Tracy, Anna Hash Rainey and Tom, Meg Barnard Clemens and Chris, Doly Barnard, David Osborne, Jr. and Cris, Micah Osborne, Brent Osborne, Katie Osborne Todd and Steve, and Brad Osborne; three step-grandchildren, Bill Lester, Kimberlee Smith and Brian, Paige Pruitt and Mark; 24 great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and also her closest friend of 75 years, Shirley Carlton.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 8, 2016 at 2 p.m., with a Funeral Service following at 3 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with Rev. Brad Napier presiding. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA, with her son, David Osborne presiding.
