Obituary for Christine Lorain Lawrence Journell (Lawrence)
Christine L. Journell, 87, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015. She was born on October 31, 1927 in Salem to the late Agee F. and Ida R. Lawrence.
Ms. Journell was retired with 32 years of faithful service to G.E. She was an active and faithful member of Community Church in Salem, and when it came to her cooking, there was just no one better in the eyes of her family. Cake baking was certainly her specialty! Above all, she will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother!
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert Mason Journell; and sons, Sparky Journell and Ted Journell. Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her daughter, Catherine E. (Kitty) Journell; grandchildren, Mason Hall and wife, Tina, Judd Hall and wife, JoAnn, Scott Journell, Travis Journell, Jessica Journell and Amy Isley and husband, Miller. Numerous great-grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 3 until 5 p.m. at John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home in Salem. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park also in Salem.
