Obituary for Brianna Renee Nelson

Brianna Renee “Bri Bri” Nelson, 17, of Roanoke, went to fly with the angels on Friday, March 27, 2015.

She was born in Salem, the daughter of Deanna “Dee Dee” Nelson and Charlie Gibson and had been an area resident all of her life until locating to Edgewater, FL earlier this year. She attended William Fleming High School, was employed as a waitress at Jimmy Sardines in Roanoke and IHOP in Daytona Beach, and loved babies and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, David Wiseman; her uncle, Sean Nelson, and her pride and joy and true child L.J.Rumley, Jr.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Shyann Gibson, Candice King and Casey Ralsten; three brothers, Tyler, Blake and Brayden Gibson; grandparents, Darrell & Sue Hall Nelson, Patricia Wiseman, and Charles and Ann Gibson; uncles, Robbie Hall and wife Aaron, Chance Nelson, Danny and Lou Hodge, Davy Wiseman and Matthew Gibson; an aunt, Christy Gibson; Godfather, Jason “JBo” Conner; special friend & family, Flip and Heidi Rumley, true love and soulmate, James “JR” Rumley, Jr.; extended family, the Rumley’s of Bassett, VA, and numerous other family members and friends, too many to mention.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, April 3, 2015 at the funeral home chapel. Pastor Brian Gordon will officiate. Burial will follow at Holland’s Family Cemetery in Bassett, VA.
