Obituary for Eleanor Rose Nunley (Myers)

Eleanor Rose Myers Nunley, 89, of Salem, went to sing in the heavenly choir on March 4, 2015. She was born on November 1, 1925 in Baltimore, to the late Edward and Eleanor Thelan Myers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings; and sons, James Edward Nunley and Timothy Patrick Lyons.
Eleanor was a proud member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, where she sang in the choir for 53 years. She was also a member GFWC Women’s Club for 49 years. She loved to bowl, and enjoyed spending time at the beach. She loved to crochet and make crafts, and enjoyed working outside caring for her flowers.
Family left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of 56 years, James O. Nunley; children, Kevin Nunley and wife Janet, Kim Sweeney and husband William, and Michael Lyons; step-son, David Nunley and wife Jeanette; brother, Bud Myers; grandchildren, Jimmy Nunley and wife Amanda, Matthew Sweeney, Melissa Wall and husband David, and Kevin Michael Nunley; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; devoted friends, Frances Tracey and Al and Jane Bryant; and her choir family.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 6, 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services to honor Eleanor’s life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Salem.
