Katherine “Sister” Neighbors, 86, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 29, 2014.

She was born on May 21, 1928 in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Homer Myers and Grace Etter Myers and had been an area resident all of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Neighbors, two brothers, Lewis Myers and Kenneth Myers and his wife Lois, a sister, Lois Sweet and her husband Fred, and a special friend, Pete Hutchinson.

She is survived by a special nephew, Michael (Sandra) Sweet, nephews, Larry (Ginger) Sweet, Mark Sweet, Kenneth (Sandy) Myers, Jr., and Gary (Debbie) Wilson; nieces, Tracy (Jan-Michael) Cox and Diane (Charles) Law, Cindy Myers and Natasha; many great nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Faye; her two special cats, Callie and Murphy, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Jack Lowe will officiate. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
