Condolences

Condolence From: Rita Evans
Condolence: I was at work last week and another former student connected. The student mentioned wonderful Mrs. Houchens, and stated she had passed away. I have enjoyed the connections to the past regularly experienced in Salem, and indeed my own son is now a member of Boots' beloved Salem Presbyterian. He will marry soon. I suppose my moves and second marriage got in the way of many of my early connections, but as Ann Eddy Simpson states, Mrs. Houchens was wonderful to us all and is missed. Too many connections lost over the years and moves, but happy to be making even small and quick re-connections with the special people I have known over the years. Boots we are lucky to have taught so many wonderful students and to keep having them remember those good days. Last night, one told me I hadn't changed a bit. I didn't realize I looked so old so early in life. He had graduated in 88. I am blessed to continue to see that so many of our students turned out well and are living full lives. Sorry we didn't re-connect, but happy to learn of the family you enjoyed and to remember Boots Houchens. Actually, a page we shared in the yearbook with Joe Kirby and Lazelle Hopkins came up as I searched for this memorial. Fun memories to be sure. Blessings above Boots.
