Obituary for Darlene H. Ellis

Darlene H. Ellis, 74, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011.
She was born in Fincastle, a daughter of the late Hugh H. Harris and Louise Rucker Harris and had been an area resident for nearly 60 years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and retired from General Electric following 34 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael E. Harris and several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Lionel E. Ellis; son Brian L. Ellis, his wife Stacey and grandchildren Kaitlyn C. Ellis and Brandon M. Ellis, all of Charlotte, NC; special friends, Claudia and Jerry Finch; Edna and Raymond Dalton; Joyce and Herman DeHart; Susan and Harold Hall, and her Sunday School Class and Church friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Thursday, March 3, 2011 in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Revs. Hilton Jeffreys and Ivey Adams will officiate. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
