Obituary for Daniel E. Eller

Daniel (Danny) Either Eller Jr., 86 of Roanoke, passed away on Thursday June 6, 2013, Danny was born March 12, 1927 in Caldwell County, NC. He was preceded in death by His mother, Beulah Jane Saunders Eller and his father, Daniel E. Eller Sr., a brother, Jerry V. Eller, and a sister, Marcella Eller Bryant. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Helen H. Eller, son, Daniel E. Eller III and His wife, Mary, daughter, Emma L. Grisso, grandsons, Daniel E. Eller IV, and Dustin D. Eller, great grandson, Daniel E. Eller V, great granddaughter, Sara Nies, three great-great grandchildren, Nieces, Lora Bryant Miller, and Regina Eller Talley, and nephew, Jerry V. Eller II.
Daniel was a US Navy, veteran, who proudly served his country during World War II in the Pacific, with commendations for service in the Asiatic Pacific and Philippine Liberation. He was the owner-operator of Danny’s Barber Shop, Salem Virginia. He retired from Yokohoma Tire after 20 years of service in maintenance. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working on anything mechanical and using his many skills to help his family and others.
The family would like to extend a sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of Golden Living Center, Clifton Forge and Mountain Regional Hospice for their care and compassion during Danny’s illness.
The family will receive friends on Monday June 10, 2013 from 5-8 pm at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, and a funeral service to honor the life of Daniel E. Eller Jr. will take place on Tuesday June 11, 2013 at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Ed Watkins will officiate, interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Roanoke.
