In Loving Memory of

Helen Cox Richards

Helen Cox Richards of Salem, VA passed away Thursday, September 21, 2006.   She was born in Floyd County, VA a daughter of the late Luke and Mary Gardner Cox.   She was also preceded in death by her husband, Daniel W. Richards, Sr.; three brothers, Sebert, Mayo and John Cox; and four sisters, Guida Cox, Wilma Weeks, Edith Laughter and Lockie Gilmore.   Mrs. Richards was a retired School Teacher for Roanoke County with over 30 years of service and was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church.  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Martha Richards; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Vic Bates; three grandchildren, Dana and Ralph Nester, Laura Bates and Rebekah Bates; three great-grandchildren, Sarah Nester, Chloe Bates and Nathan Bates; and a sister, Angie C. Myers.  A memorial service will be held at 4 pm Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Salem Presbyterian Church, Salem with Rev. Dean Lindsey officiating.   The family will receive friends Sunday, September 24, 2006 from 2 to 4 pm at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem .  Private interment will be at Fairview Cemetery , Roanoke .   In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Rescue Mission 402 4th St. SE, Roanoke, VA 24013 or to Fort Lewis Rescue Squad, 3915 W.
