In Loving Memory of

Elizabeth (Betz) Aline Spraker

Elizabeth (Betz) Aline Spraker passed from this life to her heavenly home on Friday evening, September 8, 2006 at Brandon Oaks Nursing Center.  She joined her parents, Clarence E. and Sally Isabell Spraker and her eight brothers and sisters.  Elizabeth was born in Cripple Creek, VA on February 5, 1915 and was the “baby” girl of the family.  She attended public schools in Wythe Co. and graduated from Marion College and Radford College.  She never married and did not have children of her own, but was instrumental in the development of many children as she taught school for 40 years; most of those years teaching at Conehurst Elementary School in Roanoke County.  Although she taught those many years, nursing was her love.  After retirement from the school system, she took the nursing assistant course at Lewis-Gale Hospital and worked there for several years.  Her only survivors are 4 generations of nieces and nephews.  Friends may call on Monday, September 11, 2006 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem.  A funeral service conducted by Rev. Dwayne J. Westermann and Rev. Robert Ward will be held at College Lutheran Church in Salem, VA at 12 o’clock noon on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 with interment at Sherwood Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to College Lutheran Church at 210 South College Avenue in Salem, VA 24153.  The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the staff at Brandon Oaks for her many years of care.  Online condolences may be made at www.johnmoakey.com.  The Spraker family is being served by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, 389-5441.
